What is CCNP™
The CCNP™ (Cisco® Certified
Network Professional) certification validates an individual’s
networking skills at the middle career level. If you want to become a
CCIE™ in Routing and Switching or want to advance your career in
internetworking, one way is to become a CCNP™. Capabilities of a CCNP™
A network professional can install, configure,
and operate LAN, WAN, and dial access services for organizations with
networks from 100 to more than 500 nodes.
Understand complex networks, such as IP, IGRP,
IPX, async routing, AppleTalk, extended access lists, IP RIP, route
redistribution, IPX, RIP, route summarization, OSPF, VLSM, BGP, serial,
IGRP, Frame Relay, ISDN, ISL, X.25, DDR, PSTN, PPP, VLANs, Ethernet, ATM
LAN emulation, access lists, 802.10, FDDI, and transparent and
translational bridging.
Prerequisites
A valid CCNA™
certification.
Exams
Note: The retired CCNP™
exams are available for students of Cisco® Network Academy, because they can take these retired exams
till end 2007. To register for these exams, you need to obtain vouchers
from Cisco® Network Academy program. Please view left navigation bar
for links to retired exams.

Validity
CCNP™ certifications are valid for three years. Either you need to
recertify taking exam # 642-892 Composite or pass one of CCIE™
exam.
Recertifying at the Professional level automatically renews the
related CCNA™.
