The BCMSN™ (commonly known as CCNP Switching exam) is a qualifying exam for the Cisco® Certified
Network Professional, CCNP™, as well as the Cisco® Certified Design
Professional, CCDP™, certifications. The BCMSN 642-811 exam will test
materials covered under the Building Cisco Multilayer Switched Networks
(BCMSN) CCNP course. The exam will certify that the successful candidate
has important knowledge and skills necessary to build scalable
multilayer switched networks; create and deploy a global intranet, and
implement basic troubleshooting techniques in environments that use
Cisco multilayer switches for client hosts and services.
The BCMSN exam is relatively easier than other three
CCNP exams. Therefore, most of the candidates take this exam after CCNA
or CCDA.
The exam includes topics on describing and implementing
advanced Spanning Tree concepts, VLANs and Inter-VLAN routing, High
Availability, multicasting and specific security features in switched
networks.
