There is no official prerequisite for CCNA exam, but any networking
certification will be very helpful in grasping new networking concepts.
In the U.S. and
Canada, exams may be scheduled up to six weeks in advance. This policy may
vary in other countries. There are two paths for CCNA certification:
Composite exam path and two-step path. Details are given below.

ICND 640-811 |

CCNA certification is valid for three years. To recertify, pass the
current certification exam or any new exam at the Professional level or Cisco
Qualified Specialist level bearing the prefix 642 e.g. BSCI 642-901.
In future one of the two-step CCNA exams (640-822 or 640-816), will
recertify your CCNA. Please check Cisco.com for further details.
The easier way is the two-step path to CCNA but you have to spend more
money and attempt two exams. Composite CCNA exam is recommended for those who have
previous experience in the field of networking. Specifically, if you know
subnetting, VLANs, STP, and WAN protocols, you can select the composite CCNA
path.
