Hello Forum Admin and current H2P CCNP Students!

On the Cisco Learning Network I've just been reading about the brand new revised CCNP education and corresponding new (future) CCNP Certification / CCNP exams from Cisco.

Ohh guys, it seems that the Cisco CCNP exams really has changed significant compared to the ones we have today!

Look eg. here:

CCNP Certification Revised in Collaboration with Network Engineers

Greater Focus on Complex Routing and Switching and Network Troubleshooting

The revised CCNP certification requires three 120-minute exams—ROUTE #642-902, SWITCH #642-813, and TSHOOT #642-832—that validate the key competencies of network engineers. The CCNP exams are expected to be released in March-April 2010

Some questions for H2P Admin:

1)
When and how will these completely new CCNP exams from Cisco be released and covered on H2P Huh

2)
What should current H2P CCNP students do in the overlapping period between the current CCNP exams existing today and the future (completely new) CCNP exams released from Cisco in March-April 2010?

(Perhaps this question also should be addressed to Cisco themselves!?)

3)
How will H2P manage the transition between the current and the future new CCNP exams?

Current H2P CCNP Students:

Has anybody of you heard about these brand new CCNP exams from Cisco - and if so - what are you going to do about it in your current CCNP study process?

Looking forward to hear what you have to say about it!

Greetings from

/Nick K

1. Cisco has not yet released these new exams. So, don't know when they will be covered here.

2. If you have passed the 642-901 and 642-812, and you think you can prepare and pass both ISCW and ONT by July 31, 2010, then you should definitely go for it, because it will take many months before enough insight information about new exams is available on the Internet.

If you think you cannot pass both ISCW and ONT exams, then you should wait and pass TSHOOT 642-832 exam when available. However, BSCI and BCMSN exams will be counted towards ROUTE 642-902 and SWITCH 642-813 exams, respectively. If you have passed only ISCW or ONT exam, then you can pass the other exam to count for Tshoot exam. Passing only one of the ISCW and ONT exams before they expire is just a wastage of time and money.

If you have passed both ISCW and ONT but not BSCI and BCMSN, then you can go for current BCMSN and BSCI exams or ROUTE 642-902 and SWITCH 642-813 exams. Either will fulfill the requirement of CCNP.

The information below lists all the valid ways to become CCNP certified:

 CCNP = BCSI + BCMSN + ISCW + ONT        (Last day July 31, 2010)
 CCNP = COMP + ISCW + ONT                   (Last day July 31, 2010)
 CCNP = BCSI + SWITCH + ISCW + ONT       (Last day July 31, 2010)
 CCNP = ROUTE + BCMSN + ISCW + ONT     (Last day July 31, 2010)
 CCNP = ROUTE + SWITCH + ISCW + ONT     (Last day July 31, 2010)
 CCNP = BSCI + BCMSN + TSHOOT
 CCNP = COMP + TSHOOT
 CCNP = BSCI + SWITCH + TSHOOT
 CCNP = ROUTE + BCMSN + TSHOOT
 CCNP = ROUTE + SWITCH + TSHOOT

More information is available here:

3. New exam tests when ready will be added as separate products.
