In March 2013 Cisco has announced a new version of the CCNA curriculum. Passing the ICND1 exam now gives you the CCENT certification. ICND1 now includes more subnetting, ACLs, VLANs, OSPF and IPv6, among other content. RIP and wireless LANs have been removed from the curriculum. Things that have been added to the ICND2 course include STP, EIGRP and OSPF for IPv6, GRE tunnels and SNMP. Passing the ICND2 exam determines the CCNA concentration.

With this changes, Cisco wants to evolve the associate-level certifications to better align with the industry job roles of the future.

The new exam code numbers are:
 ICND1 - 100-101
 ICND2 - 200-101
 CCNA - 200-120

Last day to test on the old exams is September 30, 2013.
