Autonomous Access Point
Thanks, James RE: AND45 - help_desk - 01-02-2026 Autonomous APs are standalone devices with their own management interfaces. That is why they require a management IP Address. Lightweight APs depend on a Wireless LAN Controller (WLC) for configuration and can operate in multiple modes (local, monitor, sniffer, etc.). The current given answer is correct. Thank you! RE: AND45 - help_desk - 01-04-2026 Yes, but the Autonomous APs require a separate management IP like a WLC. Lightweight APs are managed by the WLC; they don't need a separate IP for management. They do need an IP to connect to the WLC, not just for management. |
