I cannot stress enough how awesome GNS3 is. Do a google search for it or check it out at gns3.net
You'll need to find your own ios images to run it, but aside from port security for switches I have been able to simulate everything I've wanted to with that program. Since GNS3 emulates hardware, not software, you're using the actual IOS to run the program. To me, it's invaluable.
