I'm going to start my study for this exam and as always, I want the official Cisco study guide to get the ball rolling. However, on Amazon there seems to be a few different versions.
Building Scalable Cisco Internetworks (BSCI): Authorized Self-study Guide (CCNP Self-study) (Hardcover) - Diane Teare and Catherine Paquet.
CCNP BSCI Official Exam Certification Guide (Hardcover) - Brent Stewart
Which to go for?

I have a question about links between network devices with two different physical speeds and what the STP cost is. In the example it shows a Gig link and an Fe link on the same network segment. Is the STP cost what ever the highest cost interface allows. So if you have a Gig and an Fe on the same link the cost will be 19?
The answer hints at this but does not explicitly say so.
Thanks in advance

| Thinking about how2pass? Read this! |

Just wanted to give some feedback on my experience with how2pass and the test itself.
First let me say that I went through the Cisco Networking Academy: CCNA Exploration program and got A's in all four classes. Not bragging, just trying to give an idea of prep work. Spent about 2 weeks going through the book "31 Days to CCNA" (review book) while also taking how2pass practice tests (took 1-2 tests a day, each day). Sat for the exam today and scored a 972.
For anyone thinking about shelling out for how2pass, the practice exam's were dead on in both content and difficulty. The simlets, simulations and everything were super close to the actual exam. Some of the questions were so close I barely had to read them, seriously! Kudos to the staff at how2pass.
I just want to say again, if you want to know where you stand on preparedness for the exam, use how2pass. I can't speak for other testing sites, but how2pass (at least for CCNA) is solid. If you're knocking down their practice exams, you will do fine on the live one.
Thanks and good luck!!

| How2Pass vs. Actual CCNA (640-802) |

So after about a month of self-study using only How2Pass I was able to pass the CCNA (640-802) with a score of 888. No doubt more study time would have led to a higher score but I was under a time constraint at work. I do think it only fair to mention that I have re-certified my CCNA 5 times now so I am not new to the material. It is really more about learning the new test styles as Cisco likes to change them up every few years. I would not recommend someone brand new to the CCNA experience attempt to study for only a month.
I will say that How2Pass simulates the actual exam fairly well, but not as well as it has in the past. On the 640-802 the testlets/simlets and even some of the actual simulations are handled somewhat differently than how How2Pass presents them. That was disorienting.
I had 2 simlets/testlets and 2 simulations. I had the Switch and Frame-Relay testlets and the NAT and Basic Router Simulations. The Switch and Frame-Relay testlets looked completely different then the way How2Pass presents them and the Frame-Relay answers were completely different on the actual exam. The NAT simulation was presented exactly with only different addresses. The basic router sim was delivered in the same format as the testlets but was exactly the same content as covered on How2Pass.
In closing I would highly recommend this site to anyone studying for the CCNA with the advise that this site should be used to develop concepts and understanding of the testing environment only. Do not attempt to memorize the answer/question combinations or you might be in for a rude surprise come test time.

Hi
I am new to this forum, just registered today as I have plans to do CCNA course.
I have few questions before I do it. Can anyone help me please?
I work as a technical support agent in UK.
I have seen most of the employers asking for experienced CCNA guys. So, can it be really tough to find a job once you have done this course?
And, what about the jobs itself?
Please reply.
Thanks

I heavily recommend How2Pass not only because the practice tests felt very similar to the real exam but also because of the thorough explanations which enable you to fully understand where you went wrong.

Woohoo. BCMSN and BSCI now complete.
Exam had 4 router simulations i think. EIGRP, OSPF, STUBBY AREAS x 2. There was a new one but basically asked you to setup the area so that only summary and connected route is present i.e. a eigrp stub area. All good.
there was some odd multicasting questions which threw me off a bit but all good in the end.
Very little on IPv6.
Basically if you know your stuff you should be sweet.
