  Configuring serial interfaces
Posted by: hsk12 - 10-17-2009, 03:40 AM - Forum: General - Replies (1)

Questions:

Does it make any difference to configure:

clocke rate on a serial interface first, and then, the encapsulation after or vice versa?

I was doing a practice exam and got a question wrong when I configured the clock rate 1st and encapsulation after that, but correct when I did the opposite.

Thanks.

  Passed CCNA Exam today!
Posted by: jtorr80 - 10-16-2009, 01:17 AM - Forum: Exam Experience - No Replies

I just passed the 640-802 exam with a score of 888.  I had 48 questions with a passing score needed of 825.  I strongly recommend How2pass for studying for the CCNA exam.  The questions were almost spot on.  They did throw in some new questions that weren't too difficult but the majority of questions were in the How2pass curriculum.  I suggest you take the 60 question test on this site because it trains you to manage your time properly for the complete 90 minutes.  Since my test was only 48 questions I had plenty of time to complete it.

The sims were pretty much the same as how2pass the only difference was the look of it.  Take your time and read the sims thoroughly so your not thrown off by the different way they present it to you.

I didn't take the CCNA until I was achieving 95 to 97 percent on the final tests.

I plan to recertify CCNP with the ONT, using this site as well as other books (Cisco Press Official Exam Guide). If I bought the product today,

A)How long would my subscription be good for

B)How would I know about updates?

  Failed :( got 750 needed 790
Posted by: ventross - 10-15-2009, 03:44 PM - Forum: CCNP ENARSI 300-410 Forum - No Replies

50 questions, I had NO testlets, but it is still wise to know these!!

How2Pass was very representative, although I got 750, this was pretty much what I was getting in the tests, needed more time with How2Pass.
I got 4 sims, IPv6 Virtual Link, EIGRP summary/stub, OSPF stub,  EIGRP / ISIS redistribution.

My EIGRP let me down, apparently this is common, be warned!

Other things in the exam:
ISIS routing levels
what is FF::02
OSPF LSAs
EIGRP stub question.
EIGRP over frame relay.
IBGP Mesh, related to synchronization.
Redistribution metrics.
OSPF state, related to dead time.
Totally stubby OSPF.
EIGRP summary
IP Helper question.
The ISIS routing output, where there are 4 routers in two areas, what is the correct routing table.
A Policy Based Routing - SET statement question

Not as much as I expected on IPv6 and Multicast.

Oh, and LOTS and LOTS of BGP stuff.

  CCNA 640-802
Posted by: hsk12 - 10-11-2009, 03:44 AM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

Hi all,

I am a little confused about the test policy of Cisco. I know that a score of 850+ is needed to pass the CCNA 640-802 composite exam, but I am not sure if a candidate has to have all simulations answered correctly and have 850+ as a score? So lets say , if a candidate has a score of 950 and misses 1 (or all) simulation question(s), does that mean that the candidate still fails the exam?

Any thoughts/suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

  Failed again
Posted by: Cricket - 10-09-2009, 01:38 AM - Forum: Exam Experience - Replies (1)

After taking a week long boot camp from Training Camp in Chicago and then failing with almost everyone in the class all three exams. ICND 1&2 and CCDA, I came home and watched two CBT's.  They were from CBTNuggets and TrainSignal.  I also had Measure up and HotCerts Questions.  I read the following
1. Exam Cram
2. Sybex CCNA Study Guide - Todd Lammle -ebook
3. Sybex CCNA Fast Pass - Todd Lammle -ebook
4. MCGraw Hill CCNA Cisco Study Guide - Richard Deal
5. Cisco Press Network Accademy VOL 1-4 ebook
6. Several others from cisco all ebooks

After all that it still took me 4 try's to pass the ICND1 exam.

The Cybex and MCGraw books were better than the Cram exam and Cisco Press material.
Hotcerts was dead on for the first try's for both tests with the exception of the sims.
Hotcerts sims suck.
Exam Cram sims are dead on but now Cisco has new sims in the exams.  Not one of the 5 sims in the latest version of Exam Cram were on my test this week but they were on my 1st test.

Tuesday I tried the ICND2 again and again failed.

I have now got 2 routers and 3 switches and a membership with "How2Pass".  I hope to retake the ICND2 again on Tuesday next week.

The third try on the ICND1 exam I had 5 Sims.  The last time only 2.  You have to pass the Sims or you will fail.  You cannot pass these exams by just memorizing the questions.  You have to understand how it works and how to do it.

My exam on ICND2 that I took this week had all new questions not seen in my practice exams.
Totally blew me away.  There were only two Sims and I could not answer either one.  One had three routers and you had to open each console and do show commands and figure out what was not configured properly and reconfigure each one and verify each was working.  There was something to do with OSFP.

The second Sim from this week was one of the 5 Sims I had on my 3rd ICND1 exam.  It had two switches that had three interfaces each. One Fast ethernet F0/1 and two serial.  The F0/1 and the Serial S0 were both admin down and needed a no shutdown command but the other serial was down down and I could not fix it and missed the question both times.  I though it was a ecapsulation mismatch but the Sim would not let me change it to hdlc to fix it.  Down down is supposed to be a physical layer and how do you fix a bad cable in a console window.

Any way WISH me luck on Tuesday and I hope this helps some one.

How to prepare - what exam preparation material should I use ?
Posted by: Heinz - 10-07-2009, 08:47 AM - Forum: General - Replies (4)

Hi,

I am preparing for the CCNA exam (640-802).

I had a look at several exam-preparation products from different companies like Transcender, Troytec, SemSim and some others.

Each company offers a "money-back-guarantee" in case that I wont pass the exam.

What I dont understand is that the study-material (questions) is totally different from company to company... I have not seen one question that would be identical (which I would expect to be the case...?)

For example Trotec has completely different questions than SemSim while SemSim has questions with "gap filling" and Transcender has nothing like this...

Which company has the "best"  preparation solution for 640-802 ? (up-to-date questions and realistic environment)

Thank you
Heinz

  Question NA343
Posted by: glhart - 09-15-2009, 09:10 PM - Forum: Answer this question - Replies (1)

On Question NA343, why is there both a "CSU/DSU" box AND an "Analog Modem"?  It seems like the green box would be the CSU/DSU and the line going from the green box to the WAN would be a Digital Line (aka Serial link).  There is no explanation for this question.  Adding an explanation as to why this is the way it is would be really helpful.  If this is a real question on the test, I would not know why I am putting this as the answer.

Thank you,
Geoff
