QID:NA310 - feasable distance vs. advertised distance
Posted by: joshuad31 - 01-15-2009, 01:25 AM - Forum: Answer this question - Replies (2)

Hello,

I am 100% sure that its the feasable distance which is installed into the routing table and not the advertised distance.  Please follow the link to Lammle's book on the CCNA where he explains this matter.  You have the advertised distance as being installed into the routing table which is incorrect.

I think that "Use two way route distribution when the is one path" is also an acceptable answer.  You will not get routing loops in such cases.  Could someone correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks

I looked at the explanation but i see a problem.  It says that a path to 200.200.200.4 exists but I do not see anything in the figure that would suggest that.  What I do see is a directly connected interface in the 20.20.20.0/24 network.  I think that either the question is incorrect to the ip address on interface serial2/0 is a typo.  Can someone please let me know if there is something there showing that there is a route to 200.200.200.4 in the routing table or explain things a little better than the explanation given.

Thanks

I Think N2C73 Has No Correct Answers
Posted by: JFrost - 12-24-2008, 10:03 AM - Forum: CCNP ENARSI 300-410 Forum - Replies (2)

I have a couple of problems with this question.

Lets look at the answers and the problems with each:
*RTA and neighbor 192.168.45.2 are exchanging LSA's
192.168.4.2 is in 2-WAY state with RTA meaning that they are not going to
*RTA is the BDR
The DR and BDR both must establish a Full adjacency with all routers on the segment.  If RTA was the BDR, it should have established a Full adjacency with the DROTHER 192.168.45.2.
*RTA is directly connected to the interface 192.168.45.1
You can see clearly from the diagram that the routers are directly connected on the 10.0.0.0 network.  It is likely that the 192.168.45.0 addresses are loopback addresses that make establish the RID.  That is unless the RID was set explicitly.  BTW Neighbor ID = RID of other Router.
*Neighbor 192.168.45.1 has changed its OSPF priority number
This is also wrong because the router has a priority of 1 which is the default.

Please see the links below and let me know if I am wrong.

  QID:NE35 seems incorrect
Posted by: rohn_tolentino - 12-07-2008, 03:45 PM - Forum: CCNP ENARSI 300-410 Forum - Replies (3)

Answer ==>  If RIPv1 is configured on all routers, then RTC will receive updates about RTA LAN. (SHOULD NOT BE INCLUDED AS CORRECT ANSWER)

RTA will never send updates about its local LAN since RTA is configured as:

RTA(config-router)#passive-interface e0 (IT WILL NOT SEND LOCAL LAN)

  Passed Last week 640-802
Posted by: smilee - 12-03-2008, 03:52 PM - Forum: Exam Experience - Replies (3)

I Passed the 640-802 exam last week on my first attempt, scored 1000.

I used the Wendell Odom books, along with a lab I put together at home and of course H2P.

The home lab I used consists of

2 X 2610
1 X 2520
1 X 2521
3 X 2900
2 X 2950

I also have 2 X Pix 501's but these are not needed for the exam.

One thing i found exceptionally useful was to use my home lab and design differing networks using EIGRP, OSPF or RIP with redundant links and VLANS, connected to the internet through my home broadband connection.

H2P was also an invaluable tool, helping asses my weaknesses in order to improve on them.

The exam was quite difficult and I started to stress a little when I had 2 simulations in succession, but I found it useful to stop for 30 seconds, take a couple of breaths, then carry on.

Good luck to everyone working on their CCNA.

Al.

  WOOT! Passed ICND1 Today
Posted by: redd77 - 12-02-2008, 09:39 PM - Forum: Exam Experience - Replies (2)

Passed the ICND1 this morning with a 970!  I was a little nervous about taking the test but it ended up not being as bad as I thought.  I had two router configuration sims.  One was a basic setup.  Configuring the VTY, Console and enable passwords, host name, ip addresses and RIP routing.  The toughest question I had was labeling the interface addresses on a diagram as being Inside, Local, Global or outside.  A good chunk of the questions were very close to the practice questions on H2P.  Some of the questions that I was unsure of I was able to use the process of elimination to get the right answers.  There was only one question that I feel like I stumbled on.  On the first router sim I had to type out the full commands at the CLI.  And the interfaces were name differently than what I normally see. Other than that it was a piece of cake.  I was able to finish the test with about 25 minutes left.  So keep an eye on the clock but take a moment to go over your answer before moving on to the next question.

To prepare for the test I read the ICND1 book by Wendell Odom and got work to send me through the Cisco training course.  I probably could have skipped it though since it pretty much covered what was in the book.  I then went through all the questions on H2P until I pretty much had them all memorized.  Pay attention to the router sims and make sure you know them inside and out.  It will making configuration during the test easier and a bit faster.  Also make sure you have subnetting down.  It will make things a lot easier and faster.

All in all I think H2P really made a difference on this test.  Now to take on ICND2!

QID:S09 Configure an ACL to block Telnet IN on a Router (SIM)
Posted by: Nick_K - 11-02-2008, 03:23 PM - Forum: Answer this question - Replies (4)

Hello folks,

I have been stuck on this question for some time now.  At first I thought I was doing something wrong, however even after many many repeated attempts I still cannot get the answer correct.  And yes, I have looked at the answer and copied the suggested ACL Configuration word-for-word.  I am at my wits end and starting to believe the router sim is somehow not working OK at the moment!?

So, what the fu.. can be possibly wrong with this SIM ? - Has anybody else noticed the same problem with the S09 SIM ???

Any confirmation would be greatly appreciated!

One more supplemental question:

Do you think that the following (slightly more simple) ACL-config would be OK in the S09 Case:

access-list 100 deny tcp any any eq telnet
access-list 100 permit ip any any

+

ip access-group 100 IN

on both s1 and e0 ???

This is only 3 quite simple config lines in total, matching the IP ranges on the two Interfaces on the Austin Router, and thus blocking incomming Telnet traffic to the Router - you know...

If not - Why don't you think it would work on the Austin Router?

Cheers from

/Nick
